This is a forum for German Shepherd Dog lovers to vent, rant and rave over a variety of issues confronting the breed. All views are acceptable. The intent is to disseminate information and educational content about the breed, and provide various do's and don’ts of responsible dog ownership from those who care about the breed and of the communities we live in. The more we know - the more we can do to educate and live in harmony with others who do not fully understand the breed and their owners.

CA AB 1634 - Next steps

The Bill will now needs to be assigned to a Senate policy committee and we will advise details as known. The USA continues to oppose this Bill even with all the current amendments. The GEC which is the arm of the USA fighting such BSL will be working with the Regional Directors in California to continue to the fight in defeating the Bill through its progression through the Senate Committee, Senate and ultimately to the Governor.

On Monday, July 9th, California State Senators will vote on AB 1634 in the Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee hearing which starts at 1:30 pm.

If you have not yet contacted your senator please do so. Sen. Jenny Oropeza of Long Beach recently reversed her support with a public announcement that she would oppose the bill. Hopefully others will follow suite when they realize the negative impact this bill could cause.; June 25, 2007 at 5:10 PM
