Candidate Resumes

World Championship Committee

Dale Franz

Summary: Dedicated dog owner with 20 years of pet / rescue / foster / service and most recently working dog training. A relatively new member to Hundesport, owner of a European working line GSD, with a strong appreciation of Schutzhund USA’s contribution toward the German Shepherd Dog’s purpose (as defined by Max von Stephanitz).

Experience: Breeds owned / fostered include Jack Russell Terrier, Border Collie, Australian
Shepherd, Labrador Retriever and German Shepherd dog.

Method: Positive operant conditioning - complemented by established leadership structures in an active family oriented environment.

Goal: Represent United Schutzhund Clubs of America as required.

I have had the unique opportunity to observe the 2009 National Trial and interact with senior leaders in your the organization, and as a new member was struck by the amount of criticism and complaints surrounding the venue and event. As a volunteer of Schutzhund USA my primary message will be to enhance the positive messages surrounding our sport, and ensure that leaders and participants understand the powerful perceptions that are established in new and future members by the “politics” and negative comments. In addition, I believe that the “infighting” amongst various working dog associations negatively impacts membership and participation for all organizations.

I believe USCA should establish a mission / vision statement which rises above the current fray and clearly states the goal of focusing on enabling environments and legislation toward: "Schäferhund ist und muß Gebrauchshundezucht bleiben!" -Max Von Stephanitz (roughly translated - The German Shepherd is and should always be a working dog).
